There’s just something special about a classroom filled with joy, and that’s exactly what you’ll find in Mrs. Jenny Esthay’s class! Today, her students celebrated Easter by dyeing eggs, sharing smiles, and spreading pure happiness all around. Moments like these remind us that school is so much more than lessons and assignments, it’s about creating memories, building relationships, and learning life lessons that last far beyond the classroom. Mrs. Esthay’s class is always overflowing with laughter, love, learning, and the kind of positivity that makes a lasting impact on every child who walks through her door. We are so grateful for the environment she creates each and every day. Great job, kids! 🏴‍☠️

On March 31st, the KHS baseball field paused the game and the scoreboard to honor something far greater than wins and losses; we honored a journey.

Senior Night is never just about a final home game. It is about years of long practices, bus rides, dirt-stained uniforms, and the quiet moments in between that most people never see. It is about the friendships built in the dugout, the lessons learned through adversity, and the pride of wearing “Pirates” across your chest.

We celebrate three young senior men who have given so much to this program: Sabe David, Aiden Gaspard, and Luke Hebert. Each of them has left a mark on this field that will not fade with the final out. Their leadership, toughness, and commitment have helped shape not only this team but the standard that will be carried forward.

Behind every pitch, every swing, and every victory stands a powerful support system. Families who showed up to every game, coaches who poured their time and belief into these players, teammates who became brothers, and a community that never stopped cheering them on. That is what makes Kaplan special. That is what makes Pirate Nation strong.

These seniors may be stepping off this field, but they will never step away from what it means to be a Pirate.

Kaplan High School was buzzing with energy as our Student Council EBOARD candidates brought the gym to life for their Campaign Mixer! This was more than just an event, it was leadership in action. Our student body had the opportunity to circulate, connect, and truly get to know the students who are stepping up to lead our school. Conversations were happening, ideas were being shared, and relationships were being built right there on the gym floor. What stood out most was the confidence, passion, and pride each candidate brought with them. These students are not waiting for leadership opportunities, they are creating them. That is exactly what it means to be UNSTOPPABLE. A fun, exciting time was had by all, and it’s clear that the future of Kaplan High School is in strong hands. We are proud of every single candidate who had the courage to step forward and represent Pirate Nation. 🏴‍☠️

🚨 PBIS SHIRT ORDERS ARE OPEN! 🚨

KHS students, it’s time to get ready for an UNSTOPPABLE 2026–2027 school year! PBIS shirt orders are officially open TODAY and will close on May 29.

🛑 Important Reminders:
If shirts are NOT ordered by May 29, students will NOT have their PBIS shirts at the start of the school year and will be required to wear district uniform polos instead.

The second ordering window will be at each grade level's orientations. These will be the ONLY times to order these shirts for next year!

These incredible young women have been selected to attend Girls State, a prestigious leadership program sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary that brings together top students from across the state to build a fully functioning mock government. During this experience, they will campaign, vote, debate, and lead, gaining a deep understanding of how our government works while developing confidence, leadership skills, and a strong sense of civic responsibility.

This is more than just a summer program. This is history in the making. This is where future leaders find their voice, sharpen their vision, and begin making an impact that reaches far beyond high school.

Being selected for Girls State is a LIFE-CHANGING honor, and each of these students represents the very best of Kaplan High School. Their drive, intelligence, and leadership have set them apart, and we cannot wait to see how they rise to the challenge.

This weekend, the Kaplan High School Speech Team competed at the Louisiana High School Speech League State Tournament held at Southside High School, and our Pirates brought home some incredible honors!

Joining the All-State Speech Team in Declamation are: Lilly Noel (7th), Mason Stoma (5th), and James Mendez (4th). This recognition places them among the top performers in the entire state.

Also earning a big win for Kaplan, Brody Smith placed 2nd in Novice Poetry.

Congratulations to these talented students for representing KHS among the best in the state of Louisiana!

Kaplan High Track & Field is absolutely showing what it means to be UNSTOPPABLE.

This week wasn’t just strong… it was dominant across the board, with our Pirates stepping up in every event and delivering big-time performances when it mattered most.

Girls Results:
Madison McManus brought home 3rd in Javelin
Selena Alexandria soared to 2nd in the Triple Jump
Gabrielle Braus earned 3rd in High Jump

Our relay teams were on another level:
4x200 Champions
Emily Roy, Selena Alexandria, Liberty Greene, Lexi Greene

4x100 Champions
Riley Duhon, Emily Roy, Kadey Duhon, Lexi Greene

Lexi Greene powered her way to 2nd in the 400
Liberty Greene secured 2nd in the 800
Emily Roy placed 3rd in the 200

The Golden Band from Pirateland just did it AGAIN. A HUGE congratulations to the Kaplan High School Concert Band for earning a 1 on stage and a 1 in sightreading, bringing home a Sweepstakes Award at District Assessment. That level of performance does not happen by chance. It comes from discipline, preparation, and a commitment to excellence every single day. Kaplan High School is showing Vermilion Parish exactly what UNSTOPPABLE looks like. Last night, our track team didn’t just compete… they rewrote the record books. School Record Breakers 4x800 Relay Team Lexi Greene, Riley Hebert, Izzy Hargrave, Liberty Greene ⏱ 9:57.64 And that wasn’t all… We also broke the school record in the 4x400! This is what happens when preparation meets pride, when discipline meets determination, and when a team decides that average is not enough. Our athletes are raising the standard and proving that at Kaplan High, we don’t chase excellence… we set it. Keep pushing. Keep breaking barriers.
